1.5 The legend of Indra and Vritra, the wolf of the night.
The wolf has a good reputation in India. Day and night follow one another, but in Hindu mythology this is represented by the conflict between the bull and the wolf. It is the fight of champions: Indra the bull representing the Sun and Vritra, the Wolf of the Night. Without respite, the Vritra threatens the flocks of the Sun and as night falls on the world the wolf becomes dominant. But with the dawn comes Indra the bull, and the fate of the world changes as a new day arises.
