1.6 The origins of the Hiong-nu people
The wolf and the origin of Turkey
In the heart of Mongolia, near the Orkhon River, a stele traces the origins of the Mongol tribes. The original Hiong-nu people were nearly extinct, only one boy remained. Saved by a she-wolf who feeds him milk and provides safety in her lair, he survives. From their union was born a strong people, the T’ou-kiue, the first Turks.
